Feeding Twins is quite possibly one of the most challenging and time consuming aspects of having twins. When your twins are newborn and feeding from breast or bottle the schedule will be relentless. As your twins get older the feeding will lessen which will make life a little less tiring. Eventually, you will have the fun and mess of two little pickles enjoying their solid food from their high chairs. As with every aspect of parenting twins there are some baby products on the market that just work better for twins than others. It’s ok if they are two pairs of hands at feeding time and you can sit and relax with on of your twins but if you are alone then the feeding experience can be something quite different from what it should be.

It’s ok if feeding 15 minutes or so apart which is enough time to give a more relaxed feed one at a time and equally not to long apart so as they are feeding on a different schedule but if you have two very hungry babies to feed things can feel very hurried and unpleasant particularly when alone. I remember only too well trying to find the most comfortable position to bottle feed both my hungry babies; using car seats, pillow props, feeding on the bed, feeding on the floor, feeding on the sofa and various other variations.

There are some products available to help with feeding your twins including hands free feeding systems, breast feeding cushions, double breast pumps and fast bottle warmers.

Hands free feeding systems offer a solution to the challenges on feeding twins but they are not a replacement for feeding twins yourself but more for the times where the extra pair of hands is not available and extra help is needed.
