Hands Free Feeding System

As a Twin Mum I know how hard the feeding schedule of twins can be and the challenges that come with feeding two babies at the same time and it is for that reason I am including a section on the site about Hands Free Feeding Systems.  It is not because I am an “unattached” parent rather more that I myself always wanted to do my very best for my twins and often felt that I couldn’t spend the time I wanted to spend feeding and relaxing with my babies individually out of sheer lack of time and having only one pair of hands!

I can see the real benefits to having the back up of a hands free feeding system so here are the systems I have found available at the moment.

Podee Baby Bottle

Not a replacement for every feed but certainly very useful for twin parents when on the go.  Can be used in buggies, car seats, bouncers or those times when an extra pair of hands is really needed.

Once again, not a replacement for feeding but very useful if you need to feed on go or you need an extra pair of hands.

Twin Feeding Schedules

It is important to keep your twins on similar feeding schedules but it is hard to feed them both at the same time particularly if you don’t have another pair of helping hands at the crucial moment.  Often both babies will want their milk at the same time.  Which one do you feed first? I could never choose to feed only one baby whilst the other was screaming for their milk; it just doesn’t happen in reality.

When my twins were babies I was constantly looking for ways to comfortably feed them both at the same time.   Often this meant sitting them both in car seats with me in between holding a bottle in or a similar set up using the bed or sofa.  When my husband was around for feeding or another willing helper then I jumped at the chance of feeding whilst holding one of my babies.  Likewise if one baby woke for feeding first I would start off feeding one but would often have to stop as baby number two would need feeding.

I think by now you can see the benefits from having a Hands Free Feeding System when you are a mother of multiples.  It could be that you alternate the hands free feeding between twins giving you time with the other twin for a more relaxing and calm feeding twin; time for more cuddles and closeness.
