Holiday Ideas

The choice of holidays is extensive but finding a holiday which can cater for your large family and suit your budget can be difficult.   Here are some ideas and some resources that may prove useful to you:-

Villas, Cottages and Other Rental Properties

Whether it is in the UK or abroad, this is always a good choice as you can take over a whole property to accommodate your family.  Most will have their own outdoor areas, swimming pool and garden and others may be part of a group of properties that share outdoor facilities such as tennis courts and swimming pool.

Renting a large holiday house means there will be enough space for everyone and in terms of cost it works out more economical the higher the headcount.  You could even rent a castle!

Some of the best destinations for larger country type properties are in England, Scotland, France, Italy and Spain.

Camping

This can be a reasonably cheap option for a large family if you can locate big enough accommodation.  You can normally find mobile homes, caravans and tents to sleep 8.  You can even hire a tree house that accommodates 2 adults and 4 children.

Try something a little more alternative and stay in a “Yurt” or a “Tipi”.  The larger variety accommodates 6 and that’s with comfortable beds to sleep on.  Just type in Yurt Holiday or Tipi Holiday and you will find plenty of choice.

Narrow boat Holidays

Sleeping up to 12 people, this could be an option!  This is probably better suited to those with older children or at least a couple of older children because you will need a couple of people to jump on and off the boat when managing the locks.

Centerparcs

If you want a holiday where everything is on hand and one which provides for all the different age groups and needs of your children then Centerparcs could be a good choice.  The European locations are far more reasonably priced than the UK locations.  Take a look for yourself at the facilities offered in France, Germany, Belgium and Holland.  www.centerparcs.com Some of the villages have villas with 6 bedrooms and they say they offer accommodation for groups of up to 16 people so you can take the whole family.  The earlier you book with Centerparcs the bigger the discount!

For the Adventurous Family

Perhaps your children are all over the age of 7 and you can consider doing something a little more adventurous without the worry of them being too little.  There is some really exciting stuff to do out there if your budget permits.  Many companies offer tailor made itineraries which should ensure both adults and children alike are busy enjoying themselves the whole way through their holiday.  One particular website www.familiesworldwide.co.uk has an amazing selection for inspiration.

One company says no matter whether you are 2 or 62 there will be an adventure holiday to suit your family needs.  www.adventurecompany.co.uk
