Naming Twins
It can be hard enough naming one baby let alone two. On the flip side, if you are having same sex twins then husband and wife can both have their favourite names and if having boy/girl twins you can agree to chose one each!
I have read many an article on naming twins but I can’t really understand the need for these so-called twin naming methods. It’s important to choose names which compliment one another as you would do when naming any one of your children but it’s not necessary to ensure your twins names are anagrams of one another or start or end with the same letter.
I think it’s important to consider individuality and identity when choosing names for your twins. If you select names for your twins starting with the same letter it may cause confusion for other people including school teachers, complications with paperwork, important documentation and their mail.
It’s better to settle on names that you like and have equal but different significance and sound phonetically good with the surname. At the end of the day it’s completely up to you – just use your own discretion.
When you have decided upon baby names for your twins remember to use them once they are born. Encourage friends and family to use their single names and refrain from labelling them “the twins”, “the boys”, the “the girls”.
