Parenting Twins
I'm a mother of twins, two sets in fact. I love being a mother of twins, it's been really tough at times, it's constantly challenging and its extremely hard work but it is enormously rewarding.
The early days of raising twins can be a daunting task even if you already have parenting experience from having children already. I only know the experience of having twins having never had a singleton baby but everything I read and learn from mothers who have had singleton babies followed by twins all report the same story - parenting twins is more than double the work of having a singleton baby.
You are going to need some extra help at least for the first few months. If help is offered then take it. Do not feel that you should be able to cope alone. Dividing yourself in two is really difficult and can often lead to feelings of inadequacy and guilt.
Parents of Twins always report the biggest difficulty being the lack of sleep. It is important to rest whenever you get the opportunity. If your babies are sleeping at the same time then catch a nap yourself. It's easy to tell you not to worry about the chores because if you are anything like me I often used the time to rectify the backlog but it's not advisable. It's far more beneficial for you to sleep.
Raising Twins is no easy job. If you surround yourself with as much support from family and friends and equip yourself with some of the more useful practical baby equipment you will cope and you may even enjoy yourself!
