High Chairs
Once your twins are comfortable with feeding from a spoon and they are no doubt beginning to enjoy this new pleasurable experience found with food you will need to purchase two highchairs.
As with most baby equipment there are a multitude of highchairs available and you may not know which type to purchase. Selecting the right kind for your twins will probably be determined by two things; budget and space.
If your dining table or area is tight on space then you may be wondering how you will fit two highchairs around it. The standard highchair with plastic feeding tray attached is not always the best option where space is an issue. You can't actually get these types of chairs under your table, they just sit around it. As you will need two this could present a problem. You will also need to be able to sit between them to help feed unless you always have an extra pair of hands at meal times.
Fortunately, nowadays there are other options. The Minui Handy Sitt Highchair would be my recommendation. These cost approximately £70 each but are useable from 6 months through to 5 years of age. The Handy Sitt Highchairs attach to your existing dining room chairs so as long as you have the spare seating available you do not need any extra space. The chairs can be pushed right up to the table and your babies will use your dining table as their table which gives them a real sense of being part of the family meal. Not only do they work at your table but you can easily fold them up and travel with them.
We have two of the Handy Sitt Highchairs and can highly recommend them. Alongside the Bumbo Seats these are probably one of the best baby products around.
Another option is the Tripp Trapp by Stokke. These chairs take the place of a dining table chair and slide right underneath as a normal chair would do. They grow with your child. With the Baby Set, they are suitable for babies aged between 6-9 months upwards. These will set you back somewhere in the region of £200 each when buying the baby set cushions.
These chairs look like an excellent buy but make sure that your baby is comfortable and suitably supported. We found that at 6 months there just wasn't the support or comfort necessary for our twins probably because our girls are particularly slight and felt this option was best saved for older babies.
There are other similar alternatives to the Tripp Trapp. The designs are very similar and at a cheaper price.
