High Chairs For Twins
Once your twins are comfortable with feeding from a spoon and they are no doubt beginning to enjoy this new pleasurable experience found with food you will want to purchase two high chairs. To the best of my knowledge there are no high chairs for twins specifically on the market and I can see why but there is a great Twin Table available on the market. The Twin Table could well be the answer to every twin mums dreams; no more cleaning two high chairs!
My Own Personal Tip: We opted for the Minui Handysitt Chairs for our twin girls. They fix to your existing dining chairs and enable your twins to sit up to the main dining table thus feeling very much part of the family meal.
As with most baby equipment there are a multitude of highchairs available and you may not know which type to purchase. Selecting the right kind for your twins will probably be determined by two things; budget and space.
If your dining table or area is tight on space then you may be wondering how you will fit two highchairs around it. The standard highchair with plastic feeding tray attached is not always the best option where space is an issue. You can’t actually get these types of chairs under your table, they just sit around it. As you will need two this could present a problem. You will also need to be able to sit between them to help feed unless you always have an extra pair of hands at meal times.
There is one particularly good free standing high chair on the market at the moment that whilst expensive does make for a good choice for twins. The Bloom Fresco High Chair can be used from birth as a cradle seat which is a bonus for twin mums when it comes to bottle feeding twins at the same time and then becomes an upright high chair which has the ability to swivel 360 degrees and then finally acts as a chair right up to school age.
Fortunately, nowadays there are other options. As well as free standing high chairs for those that have plenty of room there are portable chairs that fix to your existing dining room chairs. As long as you have the spare seating available you do not need any extra space. These chair types can be pushed right up to the table and your babies will use your dining table as their table which gives them a real sense of being part of the family meal. Not only do they work at your table but you can easily fold them up and travel with them.
Other options are the wooden adjustable chairs that start as a high chair but grow with your child resulting in a child chair or regular dining chair. These take the space of a normal dining chair.
Whatever you decide make sure you shop around and speak to parents about their own experiences with products.
