Out and About With Twins

One of the main difficulties is getting out and about with twins easily.  Firstly you can’t carry your babies in your arms for very long.  Secondly, when using your wheels you are faced with a heavier, wider or longer load to push that often fills your boot space to capacity.  Everything takes longer to do.  Practically, it can be so tiresome that often you feel like staying home!

You will see mothers with “one” baby scooping them up out of their car seat in to the post office, bank or shop.  All of these things you will not be able to do with your twins without using your buggy.  If you carry both babies you will have no arms left for doing anything else.  Try carrying two baby car seats at once – you will do yourself an injury.

Your weekly grocery shop will be an outing in itself.  It is achievable as long as you find a supermarket that has twin trolley’s readily available.  You need to prepare yourself for plenty of interruptions in each aisle.  Twins are a talking point and your babies will be admired and you will be faced with the same questions time and time again.  You will also know that you have a limited time to do your shop before one or both decides its time to scream for feeding and you may find yourself having to be firm with those who want to wish you well!   My tip: get your groceries delivered!

As the twins get older, the buggy gets heavier.  When they begin to walk and want to practice you need to allow extra time to get anywhere.  You will be juggling a double buggy plus two toddlers on reins if you are sensible.  Twins on reins are good fun.  It’s like walking two puppies that wander off into different directions and split you in two and tangle you up in their lead.

You will spend more time on the practicalities of being out with twins.  It can be bad enough fighting with one child to get them to sit in their car seat or buggy but just has you have conquered one you still have the other one to go.
