Practical Solutions

Getting out and about with your twins single handed can be a very daunting task.  You wonder how you can possibly manage two babies’ at any one time.  The practicalities of managing Twins are different from managing one baby and even two young children of different ages.

Here are some practical solutions for some of the obstacles you will come across with getting out and about with your twins:-

• Ensure your supermarket has double trolleys readily available.  Not all do and if that is the case don’t bother shopping there.

• Do your Weekly Grocery Shopping Online.

• Use a shopping mall or shopping centre as the shops are normally equipped with large automatic doors which will accommodate your large double buggy.

• Choose a good buggy and if possible opt for one of the few twin travel systems.

• Choose car seats with the Isofix System.  This will reduce the time and hassle of moving twins in and out of the car.

• When your twins get bigger use reins.  With all the traffic on the road today I personally think that all toddlers should be “reined” until they are that much older and understand road safety a little better.

• Keep trips to parks with climbing apparatus, swings and slides for times when you have another pair of hands with you.  Not all twins follow one another around and whilst one is climbing for the biggest slide in the park the other is running in front of a swing!

• Use country parks, open fields and your own garden for outdoor play.
