Coping with Twin Pregnancy Symptoms

How to combat Nausea

For me nausea was the worst of my early twin pregnancy symptoms.  Nausea seems to be worse on an empty stomach hence the term “morning sickness”.  Try to snack regularly rather than eating large meals.  Large meals are harder to digest and can leave the stomach battling with the left over acids which can also cause Nausea.  It can be difficult to maintain a healthy diet whilst dealing with morning sickness but it’s obviously important to try your best.

TIPS

  1. Eat Breakfast Immediately
  2. Eat in bed before you get up if possible.
  3. Keep biscuits by the side of your bed.
  4. Nibble on dry foods throughout the day.
  5. Listen to your body.

Sleeping Problems

This may only be an issue in the later stages of a singleton pregnancy but in a twin pregnancy it is likely to be a problem earlier on.  Your uterus is so full up with babies from the start that often it is impossible to find a comfortable position.

TIPS

  1. Purchase a maternity pillow which can help you get comfortable.
  2. Use lots of regular bed pillows positioned on top of your bed mattress and lay on top.  It helps with support as they mould around your body.
  3. If you can take a nap during the day to recharge your batteries and make up for the sleep lost during the night.
  4. If you can’t sleep, get up and walk about for a bit.  Then try again to sleep.

Coping with Twin Pregnancy Symptoms is half the battle to feeling better about your pregnancy and ensuring your twins get the best possible start.
