Twins Sleeping Arrangements
Twins sleeping arrangements are really decided by your twins and your family home set up. It may be that they prefer to co-sleep but then again they may disturb one another.
Trying to save yourself from sleep deprivation during those early weeks and months is very important. You want to ensure your twins get as much rest as they need but also make sure you get enough to cope too. As a Mother of Twins Twice over I know how exhausting it can be. Here are some recommendations to help those expecting Twins or those who have twins and are finding it increasingly difficult to get enough rest.
Twins Co-Sleeping
Arm’s Reach Co-Sleeper
Co-Sleeper’s are a great idea for everyone but even more so for parents of twins. They attach to the adult bed creating an extended space from adult bed to where your twins would sleep although not actually sleeping in the same bed as you the parents. This type of cot makes it easy to lean over and comfort babies simultaneously without the need to get up. It’s a great space saving piece of furniture and although quite expensive a much wiser choice in my opinion (mother of twins twice over!) than two cots. Simply position your twins horizontally across the co-sleeper cot whilst parents sleep in their own bed attached; your twins will be within Arm’s Reach.

If you opt for two moses baskets or two cots or one cot and co-sleep your twins and then find you are bringing your twins into the adult bed anyway you could try the Magic Bumpers.
Another way to sleep twins is to buy a regular cot and use a cot divider. Although generally used to ensure a baby is in the feet to foot position, you can position it in the centre of the cot thus making to ends where your twins can occupy in the feet to foot position. Use able from birth til around 7 months at which time you would then be looking at alternative arrangements.
Moses Baskets/Cribs
If you are tight on space then Moses Baskets or Cribs are a good idea for sleeping twins. They are much smaller than a full sized cot or cot bed and are portable so can provide sleeping options during the day throughout the house. These are to be used from birth til about 6 months. As your babies become bigger and can move about they could tip out of a moses basket so really only for the first 3 or 4 months. They are good if your twins are premature as they provide a smaller more snug environment than a full sized cot. There are lots available so shop around.
