Twins Tips For Twin Babies At Home

It is a real challenge managing twins particularly from the baby stage through preschool age.  You will spend much of your time juggling two babies and later toddlers and wondering how to make things easier from a practical point of view.  You will discover early on in the days of being a twin mum that you will be spending a lot of time on the floor.  Here are my own Twins Tips for Twin Babies At Home and how to manage them.

You can make the baby stage easier by creating a soft and secure area on the floor from which you can manage your babies.  It’s a good idea to dedicate a space in your living area or the room in which you are going to spend much of your time.  Use plenty of cushions and soft play mats.  Some of the activity mats you can purchase have different textures, patterns, colours and even mirrors which are all good for development.

The Minene-3-in-1 Activity Mat works well for twins as it is a very large play mat providing enough space for twins.  It starts as a play pen then converts to a mat and finally a sofa.

My personal Twins Tips would be to consider using the sofa part as an area for twin feeding; with added cushions it would provided a padded surround for either propping babies or for twin mum to sit with baby either side for the double bottle feed.

As above, when your twins are newborn you can simply use the space as a place where they can lie side by side or even a place for double feeding.  Keeping a couple of changing mats to hand is useful as you can place them onto of your soft area and carry out the numerous nappy changes.

It also saves carrying baskets, cribs, car seats, baby seats etc up and down stairs for somewhere for your babies to rest.  Particularly, as you can’t really manage both at the same time.  If you have a dedicated soft area you can easily bring the babies up and down stairs without carrying the rest of their furniture.

As your twins get older you can add more toys to the area.  Activity gyms can be alternated with babies.  It means you can get down and play with them both at the same time.  You can easily hold one for a while but still keep the other twin close by when they feel the need to be near Mum.
